Introducing our Ruby Portgage
Frozen at -32C. Madernized in imported Porto Barrels in the summer sun. “Fit for the finest dining tables of Queen Victoria”, as the sailors attested. A piece of heaven that no one has tasted in 170 years since it was first created during the McClure Arctic Expedition.
Thank you Christopher Gentile for your photography! You captured the winter light in the ship’s quarters against the Ruby Portage bottle amongst the humble artifacts of the Expedition.
Thank you to the LCBO’s Deidre Reitav for your accurate sommelier description of this very unique fortified wine:
“Ruby Portàge opens with a seamless chinook of fig newton, spiced plum-infused amber and diaphanous cranberry playing to a circular amphitheater of subtle cherry and charming Christmas rum cake.
The taste is opulent, complex, smooth and beautiful. It has a supple sabre of rum and raisin and voluptuous caramelized apricots, lending to a high ghost of black raspberry, visiting satsuma with an aura of smoked bourbon-laced red pear. Spiced, supple red current is surprising but shy… almost a mobile vertebrae from the beginning to end against the auras of dark dried plum and autumn stone fruit.”
