Description
The equally popular best-selling ‘red’ fortified version of our Portage! Created first during the McClure Arctic Expedition when barrels of port were frozen on the ice below -20C knocking out the wine’s bitter acidity and making it “remarkably smooth” according to the diaries of the explorers. The Midnight Sun maderized the port and created a “new style of port that we found fit for the finest dining tables of our Queen Victoria.” Potter Settlement is the first to re-create this lost recipe in almost 200 years! The darling of wine critics, newspaper and magazine articles, this port is served at Canadian embassies around the world and is also served at Canadian Naval Officer’s clubs. A bottle and a magazine article is adorned on the wall of the RCMP detachment up in Resolute Bay! With luxurious flavors of black plum, raspberry, molasses and dark toffee, uniquely Canadian, this is a fortified wine that cannot be created in Portugal as they don’t have the conditions to create it. You can watch the viral YouTube video about its creation here or read about it here!
